Just a quick update to let you know the leveling guides page has been updated to reflect the new guides Jame put on Wow-pro.com.
The Team Awesome experience:
As you probably read below we now have a feral druid companion joining us, so we are in 2 teams of 2. I will be charging along with Mortition and we hope to bring chaos to every area we find.
We do not plan on following any guide for the first 3-4 levels when we are in the DK start zone, and I strongly encourage anyone else rolling DK to do the same. From what I’ve read and heard from people on the Beta, it’s an amazing experience, so soak it all in. These moments don’t come around very often.
These are the headphones I purchased just for the occasion: http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/05343
I can assure you they are great for Warcraft and superb for watching movies and listening to your IPOD with when you just want to chill.
Either way none of us will be using our normal USB headsets and loading Ventrillo until we have fully experienced the DK Start zone. We’ve given us a plentiful for 4.5 hours to get this done before we have to think about power leveling.
Then it’s power leveling all the way to 70 and we plan on following Jame’s outland guide, but we’ll add in the instances as well once we reach the end of each zone.
Finally at 70 I will take the Zeppelin to Northrend with my wife who plays a Shaman where we will again take our time.
I’ll try to update the blog as much as possible with screenshots/videos of our journey and I’ll be updating as soon as we clear each zone in Outland.
Not long now!
We are sooooo close! Game have informed me my game is ready for despatch so I hope they send it today
and I get it Tuesday/Wednesday as I really don’t feel like queing at Tescos around midnight.
The plan has been changed slightly as we welcome a new druid recruit to the lvl 58-59 launch night levelling fun.
Meet Savana – currently a lvl 43 Feral Druid who started levelling on Tuesday evening using Jame’s Horde levelling guide over at WoW Pro.
This changes our teams slightly.
I will be going around with Mortition so that’s a Blood/Unholy levelling combo and we’ll be staying those specs for end game raiding.
DKMex will be going around with Savana so that’s a Frost DK/Feral Druid combo (However DKMex may go Unholy now we’ve split up, we’re still deciding, either way he plans on Frost or Unholy for end game raiding as a tank spec).
For those wondering where Savana comes from. We took the name from a great South African cider. Personally I say it’s the best cider but this statement in itself could open up a long cider debate. I have some very passionate cider friends.
So 5 days left till WOTLK.
I’m encouraged by Jame’s response to our plan of 3 DK’s, 3 Specs. He believes the Auras that all 3 talent trees bring will help us a lot. He’s also released a new guide for Outland levelling which he reckons we should follow and skip the instances, though I’m sure we’ll burn through them quickly if we can find people and we’ve got all the quests.
All we need now is Game to deliver our WOTLK on time and we’ll be ready to rock at midnight of launch!
In the mean while, final preparations continue…I still need more mithril but Tanaris has been very good to me so far. I think I’ll take another run around there later to get the final bits.
The annoying thing is when I stare at my bank I realise how much cash I could make if I just sold all this ore!
Now the only thing left is to decide on a 2nd profession since most Blacksmithing stuff is now BOE…I’m still tempted to do it however.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who has considered going back to the old world straight after the Death Knight starting area.
The reason, to get mining to 300 before setting foot in Outland/Northrend and because if I rush all the way to 80 I would regret it each time I passed a node in Outland/Northrend. I would think that I could be levelling mining and also making a ton of money or saving materials for Blacksmithing without having to come back at lvl 80 to start all over.
There is a solution! Although it might cost some money and time before wotlk, but what else is there to do?
In my searches around the net, I came across some good mining guides. What I found out is that it is perfectly possible to smelt your way up to 290 and not have to touch a single node until that point. Combined with the fact I’m going to be doing 58-60 in WP/EP anyways I can quite easily get my last 10 skillups for Outland there.
I’ve so far gathered:
165 copper, 115 Tin, 15 Silver, 67 Iron, 13 Gold, 120 Mithril, 44 Truesilver and 60 Thorium Ore.
A lot I’ve ground out on my alt and I’ve also bought some off the AH. I figure the money I lose on the AH now with the hiked prices should still easily be made up by the extra mining I’ll get done in Outland/Northrend as people start buying out materials for their new professions. Also I plan on selling all the bars that I smelt from the ore.
By the way if anyone is a miner on Shadowsong you can make a killing on Thorium ore atm. I didn’t buy any because it was 50g a stack but those stacks were only on the AH for about 10minutes and as of right now there is no Thorium ore on the AH.
Maybe lots of people have the same idea?
Our Deathknight Preparations are well underway and this is what we’ve aimed to accumulate in the weeks leading up to WOTLK:
Gear:
1 Blade of Misfortune
1 Fel Iron Plate Set (5 pieces)- which need to be enchanted ahead of Wednesday
Items to give quick XP:
300 Wool Cloth
300 Runecloth
300 Silk Cloth
300 Mageweave Cloth
30 Bone Fragments
30 Crypt Fiend Parts
30 Core Of Elements
30 Dark Iron Scraps
30 Savage Fronds
2 Thorium Bars
8 Hi-Explosive Bombs
8 Unstable Triggers
1 Golden Rod
1 Imperfect Draenethyst Fragment
1 Flawless Draenethyst Sphere
We think that is all we need though Mortition is suggesting ROIDS and other things for blasted lands for some extra XP.
In addition DKMex is making Leg armor and recommending flasks…
Anyways this is what my bank alt currently looks like:

Filled with cloth…
So I’m starting this blog 6 days before WOTLK and I hope to include a lot of Pictures, Videos and Guides that I find and write myself for my Death Knight.
Tired of the Paladin after 3.5 years of playing Holy in all my raids for the guild Something Different on Shadowsong – EU, I decided to switch to the Death Knight.
I’ve settled on my name which is Kovah (Havok in reverse, and thanks to my wife for the help on this) who in the not to distant future will be venturing around Shadowsong with 2 other Death Knights from my guild.
Our plan on launch – 70 by Friday evening
So who’s on the journey?
Kovah – Blood Elf DK (Blood Spec)
Mortition – Orc DK (Unholy Spec)
DKMex – Tauren DK (Frost Spec)
We shall be known as Team Awesome!
As you can see we’ve tried to have one of us from each tree. We think it’s going to be exciting this way as well as allow DKMex to be our tank which he might very well be at LVL80 for the guild.
Mortition has suggested the following plan of action for the Wednesday night/Thursday morning of release (feel free to comment):
Wednesday:
Conditioning stage – ensure you’ve slept from 5pm – 11pm Server time
Thursday Morning:
00:00 – Log on
00:01 – Create Characters
00:03 – Starting zone – This will be done without vent as we immerse ourselves in the DK starting zone. Some of us even purchased $150 headphones just for the privilege.
04:30 – finish starting zone – tea/biscuit/breakfast break – get on vent with USB headset (no more sexy sound for this part, though the headsets aren’t soo bad, just a shame my laptop speakers suck)
04:45 – Mail across all items from bank alts to Deathknights and prepare for Western Plaguelands/Eastern Plaguelands using the guide form Jame’s web site. (I’ve posted this in a seperate post)
06:00 – Head through the Dark Portal and start HFP
11:00 – finish HFP (absolute latest) – another tea/food break 62-64
11:15 – start Zangermarsh
13:30 – Nap until 16:00 as one of us has to attend a lab at university
16:15 – More energy drink related heart palpitations and continue Zangermarsh
23:00 to midnight – Sleep with zangermarsh finished more than likely onto Nagrand 65-66
